In High Gear

This week has been a tremendously productive one. The videos of the Mr. Pong and Dr. Chalk interviews were downloaded by the majority of the class by the end of the weekend. On Tuesday we came together and made the decision to use all three interviews together. This required cutting our previously condensed Mr. Smey interview and finding ways to insert Mr. Pong and Dr. Chalk efficiently. This required looking at the notes from Mr. Pong’s interview and Dr. Chalk’s transcript. When this was completed, we started to create our storyboard. Quotes were written down on index cards and music and visuals on other index cards. These were laid out on large pieces of paper in parallel lines in order to see how they would potentially come together. We have found creative ways to show the stories of survival of Mr. Smey and Mr. Pong while using Dr. Chalk to fill in the gaps of historical context.

Currently, there are multiple things rapidly happening at once. The storyboard team is working hard at finishing the storyboard over the next week so that it can be sent to production. This requires organizing the interviews but also gathering stock footage. We have utilized many different resources and trying to pool together as much stock footage as possible. Production is gathering resources in order to be prepared when the storyboard team completes their story board. Production will have to work effectively and efficiently in order to have our film completed by the fast approaching deadline. We are also working on fundraising to finish paying back for our camera and raising money towards the event to show our film. Everyone in our class is putting in 100% effort in our attempts to complete our project before the school year ends.

We have a tentative date for our screening: May 28th! Mark it down in pencil in your agendas!
