Some feedback on our radio piece
The broadcasted version of the “Stories of Iranian-Montrealers about Iran’s post election uprising” radio documentary has been up on the web as of January 2nd, on the Citizenshift website and on our Life Stories Montreal website.
It has been there for less than a month now and already it has been listened to by so many people around the world. I have received a lot of positive feedback that I just feel the need to reiterate how grateful I am to have been given an opportunity to co-produce this piece with Caroline. I also like to share some of the feedback with you, since as a researcher I find it extremely rewarding to know people who share their insights and stories with us, feel good AFTER they listened to the final product.
I will start then by the input I got from the participants in this radio documentary. Some of these comments are translations from Persian texts, some transcribed from our conversation and some others taken directly as they were communicated to me by email.
“I just listened to your report and enjoyed its delicate and precise structure.”
“I thought the program was beautifully done. The story line; the length of each comment; the intervals between talks and street sounds; choice of music, all were excellent. What I liked about it the most was the sense of continuity it gave at the end. I just wish it was more balanced in terms of men/women participation. You should definitely try re-broadcasting it through other channels if this is a viable option because this is a very important and relevant work.”
“Lovely…, I listen to the program and I loved it. It was a pleasure and great honour working with you.”
“I heard it! [It] was really good! So beautifully done…. I am sending out the file to all my family and friends because I'm so proud to have been a part of it.”
“I would like to thank you for the beautiful and valuable work you did. My experience of working with you has been very pleasant and one which I will hold for ever. The end result was excellent. I enjoyed listening to it and sent it to all my friends. The delicacy and intimacy embedded in this radio piece gave me a lot of positive energy for which I want to thank you. I will be delighted to cooperate with you in the future, should the occasion arise. In friendship, and wishing better days for Iran”
“This is wonderful. Great work! Thank you! I am confident that this year, we will see a free Iran.”
And some more feedback from other listeners:
I just want to tell you that last night I listened to your documentary taped by [my husband]. I was so impressed by the degree of its smoothness and professionalism. Congratulations! From Montreal
Well done! A very important work; thank you for doing this! Would you be interested to write up this presentation as an article .... to be included in a volume [that I am editing]? From Toronto
I finally listened to the complete program and I enjoyed it a lot. It was beautifully made and was very impressive. It definitely is very professionally done and it is very close to our hearts. The ending was very touching and emotionally effective. From Montreal
I listened to it on the web finally! It was just excellent. I cried all the way… beautiful, beautiful piece. From Toronto
I listened to the complete version and liked it a lot. I especially liked its narrative style. The fact that it is based on the real peoples’ firsthand experiences of the events makes the piece a credible and somehow objective documentary. I think it is particularly educational for non-Iranian audience. From England, UK
It was very good WELL DONE! I especially liked the woman who was in Iran during election time. Her description was so enthusiastic. Actually you could feel that the subject is so close to the heart of all of them. From USA
I’m listening to it now. I think it is very good and explains a lot about Mousavi and the green movement for Americans. Could I try asking PBS and Stanford U. Iranian students if they want to broadcast it? From USA
I just listened to your show. It was really good; very accurate and nice. From Tehran, Iran
