JOB OFFER: GRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT (PART TIME)

Working under the supervision of Associate Professor Tim Schwab of the Oral History and Performance working group.
Salary is $18 per hour to a maximum of $1500 (approximately 80 hours) January 2010 to April 2010.
Working hours and schedule are flexible.

TASKS:
We are seeking a Concordia graduate student to assist with research on the topic of “The Archive, Art and Human Rights” a project which will examine case studies in which personal testimony of human rights violation gathered in archives and other curated venues have formed the basis for works of artistic expression, and explore the relationship between personal testimony, organized preservation, and creative expression. The graduate research assistant will be responsible for conducting an extensive literature review of works on this topic and the identification and documentation of media and artworks that use human rights testimony as source material. The research assistant will also assist the researcher in making contact with authors and creators of relevant works.

SKILLS:
The successful applicant must:
• Be a Concordia graduate student.
• Have excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Have strong research abilities.
• Have basic computer and web skills.
• Have an academic background in /knowledge of media and/or art and performance.
• Have a knowledge of/interest in human rights issues.
• Be self-directed and capable of independent work.
